A tradition started in the 1950s, at-home cards go out to friends and family to inform them of the newlyweds' new address and the date when it goes into effect. These days, it also lets people know whether the bride changed her name. While not at all necessary, it's a nice tradition you might want to follow.
You can either enclose at-home cards with your wedding invitation, or send them out separately after the wedding. If the bride is keeping her maiden name, the at-home card will look like this:
Ms. Janie Mathis Mr. Michael Surinafter the thirtieth of October117 Reynolds Drive Atlanta, Georgia 45732
If the bride is changing her name, the name on the at-home cards will look like this:
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Surin
